Chiba Prefecture can be found in the Kanto Region and the Greater Tokyo area. It is the sixth most populous Prefecture in Japan, and given how easy it is to get from Chiba Prefecture to some of the busiest areas of Tokyo it is easy to see why. It actually lies on the Boso Peninsula, which is a rice farming region.

Most travellers visiting Japan will fly into Chiba Prefecture, as Narita Airport is located in the Prefecture. The actual city of Narita is filled with history, so it is worth spending some time in the area before travelling to other areas of Japan. You can even go to Tokyo DisneySea which you are in Chiba Prefecture, the only resort of its kind in the world!

Keeping in with the theme of the water world that you can find in Chiba Prefecture, you can also visit Kamogawa SeaWorld. They have dolphins, penguins, orca whales, and even playful seals. Most people sit down and eat while they watch the animals move around their spacious exhibits.

If you are bold enough to travel up the steps to get to the top of Saw Mountain, otherwise known as Mount Nokogiri, then you will find the Nokogiriyama Observation Deck. It is 329-meters high and has a view that spans from Tokyo Bay to Tokyo Skytree. On an exceptionally clear day, you can also see Mount Fuji from the observation deck, although Mount Fuji is known to be shy.

You can even go surfing while you are in Chiba Prefecture, as a lot of Japanese families go to Onjuku Beach to surf and fish. Hiring a surfboard is relatively easy. There is also a small waterpark there that opens during the summer holidays.

If you want to relax and do some shopping away from the busy streets of Tokyo, then you can find Omotesando Shopping Street in the historical area of Narita. You will not see any high rise buildings on this narrow street, and it leads all the way to the beautiful Shinsho-Ji Temple. The temple itself is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Chiba, and it is easy to see why.
